Reflections
As July arrives, we are gently reminded in many ways through various marketing activities and events that Christmas is around the corner. Some, even take the spirit of this reflection, to think of it as Christmas in July. For a skier, this brings back reflections of a time not that long ago where the grass that we currently play soccer, field hockey and baseball on is covered in beautiful white snow. The hills around us are covered in snow. Our local ski hill, Mt. Brighton is shining bright in the day and brighter in the evening carrying skiers of all abilities to the top for an exciting thrill ride.
We start to think about the previous ski season. The things we maybe didn’t accomplish and the things that we want to accomplish this year. We check in on those trusted pair of skis, to make sure that they are still there, protected from the environment, but probably more importantly to impart that smile on our face. The smile of those first turns of the season. The smile of racing down a hill or mountain. The smile of being a skier.
The smile of a skier is hard to explain to someone that doesn’t ski. It is unique to each of us in what it means, but every skier understands it.
So take this time in July to check in those trusted pair of skis and reflect upon last season, but more importantly, start to reflect on this next season because before you know it, the 2015-16 ski season will be here.
